Jagna's mother has just made the decision to marry her daughter off to old Boryna. The Mayor's words about bequeathing the land to Jagna apparently convinced the old woman to make this momentous decision. Despite the difficulties posed by the beads, Dominikowa's portrait is very well painted. The aforementioned beads were quite a challenge for the animators—the actress's constant movements meant that practically every bead had to be repainted on each frame. Reproducing them in a new position each time was at least as time-consuming as painting the face.
