Oil painting from the film The Peasants - "A path through the woods. Shot 090".
One of the two backdrops created for scene 025, for the shots of Dominikowa and Boryna travelling in a cart. These shots were filmed in the studio against a green screen. The backdrop, which recedes as they ‘travel’, was painted on separate canvases (separate from the characters), and the movement was added in post-production. The animation created in this way was composited with the separately animated figures of Dominikowa and Boryna. These paintings were inspired by three works: Józef Chełmoński’s ‘Road in the Forest’ and two canvases by Julian Fałat: ‘The Imperial Hunt at Hubertusstock’ and ‘By the Forest’.
