A shot from the scene with Hanka and Kowal. It is spring, but instead of working in the fields, most of the men are in jail for a fight in the woods with the landlord’s lumberjacks. A few, like Kowal, try to turn the situation to their advantage. The frame shows Kowal trying to get into his house, with Hanka blocking his way. True to form, Kowal doesn’t give up—his goal is to get his hands on the money Boryna has hidden. The shot was divided between two animators, with most of it painted by Alicja Kajtanowska.
