An unusual, multi-figure frame from the forest battle sequence. The peasants, shouting their opposition to the felling of the forest, have grimaces on their faces. Only Hanka, positioned in the centre, stands calmly, staring at Boryna (out of frame) as he speaks. Her figure, further emphasised by a white scarf, contrasts with the agitated crowd. Calm and pensive, she seems to sense the impending danger.
